GEITGEY PASSES AWAY Mrs. Eliza Geitgey, relict of the late David Geitgey, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Miller, three and a half miles south of Wooster at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning. Death was due to the infirmities of age. She had passed her 75th milestone. Eliza Kercher, was born in Lancaster county, Pa., and came to Wayne county when a young girl, having resided here ever since. Her husband passed away last October. She was the mother of four children, four of whom survive: Mrs. Henry Miller, Mrs. Herschel Walter, of Wooster, Edward of ?orth (something missing) Wooster, and Harry, of Youngstown. Mrs. Geitgey was a life-long member of the Methodist church. Funeral services Friday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. W. Dowds. Interment in Wooster cemetery. ( This article does not mention her son from her first marriage, Benjamin Franklin Major who lived in Arizona at the time. DIED: Near Wooster, Ohio, on the 14th, ( 14 Jan 1860 ) JOHN MAJOR, aged 24 years, 4 months and 26 days; leaving a wife and one child to mourn his loss, but not without hope. ( There also was a poem along with this small obit.) Information from Patricia Ruth Major Miller: John Major's wife was Ann Eliza Kercher . ( Elizabeth ? )They were married, 17 FEB. 1859 in Wayne county, Ohio Note: Vol. 5, page 151 . They were married by H. Dubois, minister. He certified that on the 17th day of February 1859, Mr. John Major and Miss Elizabeth Kaicher (Kercher) were legally joined in marriage by me, a minister of the Methodist Episcopal church. Given under my hand this 18th day of February 1859, H.G. Dubois. John Major was born in Ireland and his wife, Ann Eliza Kercher was born in Pennsylvania. Their only child , Benjamin Franklin was less than a year old at the time of John's death. Ann Eliza later married David Geitgey in Ohio. They had five children. Benjamin came West when a very young man catching a ride on the railroad. His mother and her family all stayed in Ohio. Benjamin Franklin Major married Mary Elizabeth Barrington October 7, 1886 in Groom Creek, Yavapai, Arizona. They were the parents ten children. He did some mining, but his biggest interest was in farming. His wife Mary Elizabeth petitioned for Letters of Administration in the matter of the Estate of Benjamin F. Major Deceased 1927. This was done in the Superior Court of Yavapai County, Arizona certificate No. 2522. The widow of the deceased was given his entire estate, a farm of 160 acres located in the Verde Valley.
