Roush TEGA CAY -- Mr. Roush, age 86 of Tega Cay, SC, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2010. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Christine; and his brother, Donald. He is survived by his sons, David (Debbie) of Augusta, Georgia; Dohn (Marsha) of Dayton, Ohio; and Douglas (Gabriela) of Annapolis, Maryland; grandchildren Debbie, Emma, April, Jordan, Shea, Christian, Dylan and Andrew; many wonderful great-grandchildren; and very best friend, Sue Gulasky. Born in Rockwell City, Iowa, Bernie was a veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Maritime Service during WWII. Married to Chris in 1945 during a 30-day leave, after the war he entered the tire industry, first with Goodyear and later with Dayton Tire, where he rose to Vice President of Sales & Marketing. He later founded Roush & Sons tire dealership, with sons Dave and Doug, in Charlotte, NC, and ultimately retired from American Tire Distributors after almost 60 years in the industry. Bernie was a sports fan and avid golfer, having achieved eight holes-in-one. He was actively involved in the Tega Cay Lions Club, the Vintage Club and a charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Tega Cay, where he was an original member of the choir. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2955 W. Highway 160, Fort Mill, SC 29708. The family will receive friends after the service.
