Roberts, age 79, passed away June 5, 2012. He was born on August 15, 1932 in Akron to Sidney H. and Effie G. (Bonnett) Roberts. A 1953 graduate of Doylestown High School, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Marines. Billy retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., and was a member of the D.A.V., Wadsworth Lodge 385 F. & A.M., Valley of Canton, Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree. He liked to golf and was an avid hunter. Preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Matthew John Birch Jr.; sisters, Lois Ball and Carol Sue Bombard; he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; sons, Rodger (Debbie) Roberts of Erie, PA, Cortne Roberts of Akron; daughters, Pamela (Charles) Gauntner of Lakeland, FL, Bethany Shuber of Akron; eight grandchildren. A Masonic service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH 44230. A private inurnment will take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
