Funeral services for Mrs. Deany Cobble Butner, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday November 26th at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Mrs. Butner’s family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Butner died peacefully Monday morning November 24, 2014 at her home. She was born May 21, 1933 in Coffee County, Tennessee to the late Barney Burl and Ola Hamby Brown. Deany loved her family and music and was blessed to enjoy them together. As a teenager, she and her brothers formed the Friendly Five and their music played on the local Tullahoma, TN radio station. In later years, they formed a gospel group known as the Tennessee Melody Gang. She moved to Cookeville in the early 1950s and was employed for over 30 years as a machine operator with Wilson Sporting Goods. She was loved by everyone who knew her and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, James Carl Cobble; brothers, James Brown, Hoarce Brown, Willie Brown, Bobby Brown, Fred Brown and J.W. Brown; sister, Corene Long; and by a son-in-law, Steve Alred. She is survived by her son, Tim Cobble; daughter, Deann Cobble Alred both of Cookeville; grandchildren, Laci (Ryan) Mollinet of Huntsville, AL; Matthew Alred (fiancée Kaly Biles), Jade Cobble and Brooke Alred, all of Cookeville; great grandchildren, Grayson and Addison Mollinet; sisters, Irene Franklin of Johnson City and Annie Sue (George) Vandergrift of Manchester; numerous nieces and nephews, and by a special angel and caretaker Tammy Angel. Todd Koehler, Greg Hensley, Bruce Bean, Joseph Underwood, Mike Franklin and Matt Allred will serve as pallbearers.
