Ernest was born in Akron to the late Ernest Sr. and Katie Salmon and lived in the Akron area all his life. Ernest retired as an Akron Police Officer on November 4, 1986. He loved being a motorcycle patrolman. He was dedicated to his home tire business which he had for over 40 years, worked for Harbor Freight for over 10 years and was a member of the Akron FOP. Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Leslie; children, Denise (Michael) Zielinski, Kenneth (Carrie) and Mathew Salmon; stepdaughter, Roschelle Wilt; grandchildren, Zachary, Nathaniel, Noah, and Sydney; twin brothers, Ronald (Ruth) and Donald (Diane) Salmon; special friend, Jon Kopsky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The Salmon family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Joe Meli for all his care and friendship over the years. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at HENNESSY-BAGNOLI FUNERAL HOME, 936 N. MAIN ST., AKRON, with his cousin, Pastor Sharon Bauman officiating. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. and TWO HOURS PRIOR to service time on Tuesday. Ernest's final resting place will be Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc. or FOP 7 Eternal Flame Memorial Fund.
