Roach Funeral Home Gary Lee Mick of Strange Creek, WV, went to be with his Lord on November 8, 2018, at the age of 78 years old. He was born on October 2, 1940, son to Wade Mick and Elsie Dobbins Mick of Wilsie, WV. Weighing less than two pounds when he was born, he was nicknamed "Pod", a name that stayed with him throughout his life. His siblings included: Kenny Mick (deceased), Paul Mick (deceased), and Bill Mick. On April 24, 1964, Gary married Clara Jean Rollyson, daughter of Vastel Rollyson and Marvis Stalnaker Rollyson. Their children included: Allen Wade Mick (deceased), Angela Dawn Mick (Greenlief), and Jason Gary Mick. Gary is also survived by his son-in-law, Russell Burton Greenlief, and grandchildren: Troy Austin Greenlief and Gracie Jo Greenlief. Gary retired from the Gilmer County Department of Highways and was a member of Charity Baptist Church. He was well-known as an avid gun and knife trader, as well as a fantastic storyteller. During the last years of his life, he spent his time making hand-crafted canes and walking sticks that he gifted to friends and community members. Funeral services were held at 1 P.M. Monday, November 12, 2018, at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Dana Stalnaker officiating. Interment was in the Ramsey Cemetery, Lower Sleith.
