Adkins, age 63, of Orrville, died Monday, November 19, 2018, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, following a period of declining health. Johnny was born on March 15, 1955, in Wadsworth, Ohio, to Franklin and Arbutus (Marshall) Adkins, graduated from Orrville High School in 1973, served as a Corporal in the United States Marines, and then attended Wayne College when he returned from the service. He married Carol S. Baumgartner on February 16, 1974, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Orrville. Carol survives. He previously worked as a voicer at Schantz Organ for over 20 years and most recently made custom doors and was a draftsman for Wayne Dalton Doors in Mount Hope for 8 years. Johnny was a former member and President of the Orrville Booster Club. He enjoyed music in his younger years and previously played with the Marine Corps Band. Woodworking was his passion and he made it both his occupation and recreation. Surviving in addition to his wife, Carol, are his son, Brian (Nicole) Adkins of Orrville; four grandchildren, Corey (Amber) Adkins of KY, and Wyatt, Hunter, and Sophia Adkins of Orrville; mother, Arbutus Dobbins of Dalton; three brothers, Richard Adkins of Wooster, Paul Glenn Dobbins of FL, and Neil Dobbins of Orrville; step-father, Paul Dobbins of Orrville; and the family cats, Suzie and Headlock. He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Adkins. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 26, 2018, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville where military rites will be observed. Friends may call on Monday at the funeral home from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
