John Tackett, 69, of Tuskahoma, OK, passed away Saturday, July 12th, at his residence. John was born in Tuskahoma, OK on January 3, 1945, a son of the late Zella Gertrude (McClain) and Jonathan Henry Tackett. John attended Tuskahoma School until he graduated in 1963, Then he entered the U.S. Army and served in Alaska, Germany (twice) and in Korea during Vietnam. While in California, John met Evelyn Sue McCurry and on June 22, 1968, they were married in Tracy, California. After he retired from the service, John and Sue made their home in Tuskahoma and became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for Clayton Ambulance Service, Wadley Ambulance Service in Wilburton and for the Choctaw Nation for about 20 years. John was also a Volunteer Fire Fighter and was a member of the Oklahoma State Firefighter's Association. John loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting or fishing, he also loved helping others. Preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ed Tackett, and 2 sisters, Imogene Hammon and Juanita Truman.
