Published in The Huntsville Times, Huntsville, Monday, July 7, 1997 John Whyte Goddard Jr., 72, of Athens, died Friday at his home. The graveside service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Sharman officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing. Mr. Goddard was an Air Force veteran of World War II, retired vice president of Sweet Sue Kitchens and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include one daughter, Melinda Goddard Gober of Athens; one son, John Whyte Goddard III of Memphis; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
