Cannot find any record from Poland that shows Catherine as a child of John and Elizabeth Hnat. Spies don't show her and Bukowsko baptism records don't show her. Dad mentioned that he and Grandpa went to see his sister in Bellefonte but she wouldn't answer the door and he never went back. No further contact. CENTRE DAILY TIMES of 30 May 1975 reads: "Mrs. Catherine Benzie, Benner Township, died at her home, Thurs. at 5:45 p.m. She was born at Galetzia, Poland, Nov. 25, 1894, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Hnot. Her husband, Enoch Benzie, died in 1969. She is survived by the following children: Helen, New York City; Mrs. Sophia Bellew, Midland, Michigan; Paul, Marsh Creek, and Enoch, Mrs. Rose Peters and Mrs. Welda Bird, all of Bellefonte. Thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Bellefonte, where services will be held Mon. at 10 a.m. with Msgr. Paul A. Lenz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends will be rec'd at Wetzler Funeral Home, Bellefonte, Sun. from 7 to 9 p.m. A wake service will be held at the funeral home Sun. at 7:30 p.m."
