The Kerrville Mountain Sun January 28, 1966 "Larry J. Wasson is Promoted Pvt. Larry J. Wasson, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Fee live in Medina, received an early promotion to Army pay grade E-2 following successful completion of basic combat training at Fort Polk, La., Jan. 15. Wasson was awarded the promotion 2 months earlier than is customary because of his proficiency in firing the M-14 rifle, his high score on the physical combat proficiency test and his military bearing and leadership capabilities. The early promotion program is the result of a new Department of the Army policy to recognize and provide incentive to outstanding trainees."
