June 28, 2011 Marvin Anthony Beavin 61; formerly of Clarksville Funeral Mass for Marvin Anthony Beavin, 61, of Loganville, Ga., formerly of Clarksville, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sellersburg. He died Monday, June 27, 2011, at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Ga. Born Oct. 20, 1949 in New Albany, he lived in Clarksville and later moved to Loganville, Ga. for his work with AT&T Communications. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with his dogs. Survivors Include his mother, Wilhelmina Beavin, of Clarksville; three brothers, Leo Beavin and his wife, Phyllis, of Sellersburg, Wayne Beavin and his wife Pat, of Clarksville, and Carl Beavin and his wife, Donna, of Fredricksburg; five sisters, Janice Schladant, of Floyds Knobs, Ruth Lynch and her husband, Billy, of Charlestown, Marie Smith and her husband, Larry, of Jeffersonville, Verla Beavin, of New Albany, and Nancy Meiners and her husband, Charlie, of Jeffersonville; his partner, Art; close friends, Daniel and Pete; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin J. Beavin, and his brother, Gary E. Beavin. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Providence High School.
