The Southern Illinoisan, Tuesday, July 7, 2009 ZEIGLER - Noel Reuben Hall, 93, died at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009, at his home. Noel was born Jan. 17, 1916, in Zeigler to Willie Riley and Pearl Margarite (Jones) Hall. He married Vine E. Stafford on Oct. 9, 1936, in West Frankfort. She preceded him in death July 18, 2004. He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Podolski of Savanna; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Carol Hall of Royalton, and Jerry and Carol Hall of Zeigler; eight grandchildren, Tammy (Tony) Deutscher of Thompson, Renee (Bill) Stebbins and Carey (Yolanda) Podolski, all of Savanna, Sheryl Taylor of Algona, Wis., James Hall of De Soto, Amy (Jim) Flood and Leon Hall, all of Zeigler, Lara (Doug) Rathbun of Carlock; 16 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Hall of Phoenix, Donald Hall of Zeigler; and a sister, Joyce Lantz of Paxton. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers. Mr. Hall was a member of Zeigler Masonic Lodge. He was worked in the Southern Illinois coal industry for 28 years, retired in 1971 from the Blue Blaze Mine in Herrin, and a member of UMWA Local Union. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2009, in Zeigler Cemetery, with Brother John Arvai officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery prior to the services. There will be no visitation. Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Hall may be made to the Southern Illinois Hospice Inc., 405 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery.
