He was born November 3, 1918, in Sutton, W.Va., to Lee Dana Dean and Beulah Pearl Cutlip. He was an electrician for the State of Michigan but retired to Florida 28 years ago. He owned and operated Cathy's Kitchen in Dade City for a number of years. He considered it an honor to serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II even though it cost him his sight in one eye. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ypsilanti, Mich. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Dobbins Dean; one daughter, Sabina Pearl Dean; and one granddaughter, Angela Bennett. He is survived by three children, Patricia and Gary Bennett, Kenneth Richard "Ricky" Dean, Pamelia Da Dean, all of Ypsilanti, Mich.; his siblings, Dana Dean Jr., Akron, Ohio, John B. and Eleanor Dean, South Point, Ohio, Shirley and Thurman Spaur, Clarksburg, W.Va., Homer and Carolyn Dean, Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Shelba and Randall Hals tead, Summersville, W.Va.; one grandson, Jason and Carmen Bennett, Milan, Mich.; four great-grandsons; and his special friend, Sophie Karkut, Dade City, Fla. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at the Mausoleum Chapel of Chapel Hill Gardens with Randall Belcher officiating. Published in TBO.com on Feb. 16, 2006
