Mr. Cook was born in Akron and was a lifelong area resident who served with the U.S. Army in World War II in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge. From 1947 to 1982 he was employed as a machinist at the Portage Machine Co. Surviving Mr. Cook are his wife, Anna; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kimberly Cook of Canal Fulton; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Russell Whitis of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Patricia Mott of Austin, Texas; sister, Rita Churchill of Denver, Colo.; brothers, Larry of Stow, Bernard of Akron and Leo of Doylestown; grandchildren, Allison and Hillary Cook, Holly and Christopher Whitis, Amy and Elisa and DeAnne Mott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. TODAY, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, where he was a member. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery
