Roy M. Speidel, 73, of St. Johns, passed away Dec. 30, 1998. He was born in St. Johns March 21, 1925, the son of Fred and Bertha (Marsh) Speidel and lived in St. Johns all of his life. He was a member of St. Paul Luthern Church in Fowler, was a sports enthusiast, loved steam engine shows and Blue Grass Music. He was a self employed heavy equipment operator and previously worked for Searls Construction. His marriage of 53 years to Harriet Barnett began Oct. 27, 1945 and she survives him. Also surviving are four daughters, Alice (Roger) Moore, Shirley Vallin, all of St. Johns, Debra (Scott) Moore of St. Louis, and Michelle (Dave) Fox of Fowler; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Bonnie Harper; a granddaughter, Sharrie Moore, three brothers, twins Gale and Dale, and RG Speidel. Funeral services were Jan. 2 at Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, burial at South Bingham Cemetery with pastor Paul Clark officiating.
