On last Friday morning, Vesta Hutchinson Smoyer, wife of Henry Smoyer, died at the Smoyer home west of N. Main St. The deceased was very well known in Rittman, where she hads made her home for a good many of years, prior to her living in Rittman, she lived in a neighboring town, where she is also well known. Mrs Henry Smoyer was born in Medina County in 1865 and in 1883 was married to Robert Sigler, who preceded her in death. The first husband was a brother of H. P. and J. C. Sigler of this place. Some time after the death of the first husband, she with her family moved to Rittman, at which place she has lived ever since. She was married to Henry Smoyer, June 26, 1907. The death of Mrs. Smoyer was received with some surprise, yet her condition was known to be serious. The deceased has been in failing health for some years and at different intervals, her condition was such that she was unable to attend to her household duties. Her last illness was of some weeks duration and was more severe than previous illnesses and on the morning of Feb 3, the end of all the suffering came and she passed away at the age of 56 years. She is survived by her husband, Henry Smoyer and children, Ed. Sigler, of Easton; Earl Sigler, of Barberton, Platt, Robert and Belle Sigler, of Rittman and Irene Smoyer. Besides the husband and children, her stepmother, four sisters, three brothers and six grandchildren remain to mourn her loss. The stepmother, one brother and sisters reside out of town. The funeral was held at the Smoyer home at 10:00 o'clock Monday morning and was conducted by the Rev. Robert I. Platter of the Milton Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the family lot at the Seville cemetery, in recognition of her request.
