William Smith "Smitty" Ritter, age 73, of Hobbs, Indiana passed away on Friday May 21, 2010 at his home. He was born on October 3, 1936 in Clay County Tennessee the son of Ben Ritter and Thelma (Davis) Ritter. William was married to Opal Netherton on October 13, 1956 and she survives. William was the Owner of Smitty's Auto Sales of Hobbs, Indiana. William also was Service Manager of Kmart where he retired prior to forming Smitty's Auto Sales in 1997. William is survived by his wife, Opal Netherton Ritter of Hobbs , Daughter, Rebecca Diets and Son in Law, Arthur Diets of Tipton, Daughter, Deana Schambers of Tipton, Son, Bill D. Ritter and Daughter in Law, Shara Ritter of Tipton, Son, Mark Ritter of Tipton, Son, James Ritter and Daughter in Law, Tara Ritter of Tipton. Also surviving are 12 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. William had one brother, Winifred Ritter of Windfall who also survives. William was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Thelma Ritter, A Daughter, Ruth Ann Ritter Harrison and a Great Grandson James Harrison. Friends and Family may visit on Monday May 24, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton . Funeral Services will be on Tuesday May 25, 2010 at 10:00 am at Porter‘s with Rev. Melissa Grishaw officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton, Indiana.
