TENNESSEE TIDBITS 1778-1914 VOLUME II by Marjorie Hood Fischer & Ruth Blake Burns 1998 ROBERTS, Hugh Died the last of December 1851 as shown in the suit of Eliza Birchett & Jackson Burchitt vs William Geahart et als. The complainant, Eliza, married Hugh Roberts in June 1850 and was his lawful wife at the time of his death. She is entitled to dower out of his lands in Jackson & Overton counties. There are 5 heirs and complainant, Eliza, is entitled to 1/6 of the personal property. Eliza relinquished her rights to the defendants on 5 March 1852. Said deed was obtained from said Eliza by misrepresentation and fraud.. Eliza has married complainant Jackson Burchett. William Gahert? Is administrator of Hugh Roberts deceased. Eliza is to have her dower. Her portion is to be vested in James A. Spurlock for her sole and separate use. The defendants were granted an appeal to Supreme court in Nashville. (Jac TN, Ch Ct Min.
