Avis Houghton, 92, of Strange Creek passed away Sept. 10, 2006, at the home of her daughter-in-law, Lou Houghton. She was born Oct. 11, 1913, in Braxton County and was a daughter of the late Perry and Malissa Bail Dobbins. She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Flem; son, Cledith; and sisters, Valerie Hamric and Mary Dobbins. She is survived by her daughter, Anna Lee White and husband, Dorvin, of Elizabeth; brother, Ira Dobbins of Strange Creek; granddaughters, Lisa Young and husband, Ronnie, and Beverly Young and husband, Johnny, all of Strange Creek, and Teresa Rose and husband, Donald, of Little Birch; grandson, Dorvin White Jr. and wife, Jeanette, of Elizabeth; five great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Burial: Bail Cemetery, Strange Creek.
