Ben was born on January 23, 1927 in Perkins, West Virginia. He resided in Grafton more than fifty years. He worked as a slitter operator at Independent Steel in Valley City for more than twenty years. Ben retired from Independent Steel in 1992. He was a long time member of Midway Baptist Church in Elyria. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and listening to blue grass music. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Ben is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bernice (nee Moss); three daughters, Karen Nicholas (Bob) of Grafton, Linda Hardman (Nelson) of Grafton and Donna Engler (Eddie) of New London; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother Zair Dobbins of Grafton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Hallie (nee Duelley) Dobbins; one grandchild, Tammy; one sister, Melissie and three brothers, Orden, Lambert and Oval “Tiny”. The family will receive friends Monday, January 2, 2017 from 6-9pm at Midway Baptist Church, 41812 Griswold Rd., Elyria. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 3 at 10:00am at the church. Pastors Charles Keesee and Rick Keesee will co-officiate. Burial will follow at River Road Cemetery in LaGrange Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midway Baptist Church. Liston Funeral Home, North Ridgeville is serving the family.
