"Bruce Jr." Goolsby Jr., 51 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, January 23 at 11 a.m. at Holladay Church of Christ, (1765 Mine Lick Creek Rd., Cookeville, TN 38501). Bro. Johnny Fox and Bro. Buddy Johnson will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Double Springs Cemetery. Mr. Goolsby's family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Goolsby died suddenly on Sunday evening January 19, 2014 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born May 23, 1962 in Cookeville, TN to Mary E. Wheeler Goolsby of Cookeville and the late Bruce Willard Goolsby Sr. Bruce faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1983-1989 and was honorably discharged. Following his service, he worked as a general contractor alongside his father. Bruce was a member of the Holladay Church of Christ. He especially enjoyed Scouting activities with his son, assisting Cub Scout Troop 196 and was Assistant Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 108. In addition to his mother, Bruce is survived by his wife, Carla Roysden Goolsby (whom he married December 10, 1994 in Cookeville); son, Nathen Shelby Goolsby; daughter, Brenda Marie Goolsby; brother, Shelby (Mari) Goolsby of Mt. Juliet; two sisters, Lagene (Mark) Goolsby Lee of Murfreesboro and Lisa Goolsby of Nashville; five nieces and nephews, Mary Beth, Rachel and Hannah Lee, Daniel Kai and Kiko Goolsby; and by a host of aunts, uncles cousins and by many dear friends. Nathen Goolsby, Shelby Goolsby, Kai Goolsby, Kurt Langston, Robert Roysden, Mark Lee, Scott Herman, and Jimmy McWilliams will serve as pallbearers. Blake Goolsby, Marty Wheeler, Stephen Stults and members of Boy Scout Troup 108 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
