Speck Funeral Home Feb 27, 2010 Funeral services for Mr. Cassius Clay Parsons, Jr., age 83, of Livingston will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010 from the First Baptist Church in Livingston with Rev. Donald Cobb officiating. Burial will be in the Overton County Memorial Gardens in Livingston. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday evening from 4 until 9 p.m. Mr. Parsons died February 24, 2010 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was born August 10, 1926 in Overton County to the late Cassius Clay Sr. "Cash" and Clydia Lee Vaughn Parsons. He was a retired Environmentalist with the State of Tennessee Department of Health & Environment for 43 years where he served as Director for Overton County and for the 14 County Upper Cumberland Region. He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of the First Baptist Church in Livingston, a veteran of the U. S. Army during WWII, and a charter member of the Livingston Lions Club. He is survived by 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Sonny & Debra Parsons and David & Lesa Parsons, all of Livingston; grandchildren & spouses, Shannon & Daryl DePry of Henderson, NV, Casey & Dr. Amy Parsons of Winston-Salem, NC, Curtis Parsons, Rebekah Sims, and Stuart Parsons, all of Livingston; and 6 great-grandchildren, Madisyn Sims, Connor DePry, Makynlee Sims, Vayda DePry, Lily Parsons, and John Clay Parsons. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Eldrith Carwile Parsons, sister: Karen Tolleson, and brother: Bill Parsons. Pallbearers were John R. Officer, Larry Winningham, Jeff Hammock, Earl Carwile, Larry Mason M.D., Jim Means, Chig Parrott, and Bill Huff.
