Daniel Charles McClain was the son of Robert Andrew McCLain (McLain) b. 1746 in NC and Ann (maiden name unkn); he had the following siblings: James David who married Polly Yarnell (twin of his wife), and Margaret McClain b. 1793 in Knoxville, Knox Co., TN. He also had the following half-siblings (mother: Susannah Marshall, all b. in NC): Joseph b. 1776, Sarah b. 19 Mar 1772; Andrew Francis b. abt 1774; John Richard b. 26 Feb 1776; Mary b. 1782; William b. abt 1784, and Stephen b. 1785.
