Irene Simon, 87, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, formerly of North Baltimore, went to be with her Lord and savior Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, with her family by her side at the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Clay County, Tennessee, to James A. and Nora D. (Roberts) McClain. Irene married the love of her life, Donald C. Simon, April 24, 1954, in Akron, and he preceded her in death Aug. 4, 2000. Surviving are her two daughters, Terri (Kim) Mohr of Sycamore and Susan (Randy) Aikens of Harrisonburg, Virginia; two sisters, Glena Porman of Swartz Creek, Michigan, and Jessie Rook of Topeka, Kansas; five grandchildren, Betsy Klinke, Sara Dulaney, Staff Sgt. Charles King, Capt. Adam Aikens and Ashley Aikens; and six great-grandchildren, Ethan Dulaney, Olivia and Piper Aikens and Alayna, Emily and Maggie Klinke. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; special nephew, Garry Ritchey; two brothers, Ridley and Charles McClain; and three sisters, Nellie Hnat, Grace Adams and Virginia McClain. Irene retired in 1986 from Equity Meats in North Baltimore, and prior to that she worked at Aikens IGA in North Baltimore, and was an Ohio Bell Telephone operator. She was a graduate of Barberton High School in Barberton, and former member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in North Baltimore, and Shuffles and Ruffles Square Dance Group. Her funeral will begin at noon Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. Rick Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery in Bloomdale
