He married on Jul 29, 1880, Mary E. Tillery (buried at this cem.); they had the following children: Infant b. & d Jul 22, 1890, E. Imogen Brown May 24-June 12, 1886; Lorenzo Dow Brown b. Feb 25-June 30, 1882, and infant son b. July 12-Jul 20. 1884 (all four buried at this cem.). The Journal and Tribune, Knoxville, Tenn., Wednesday, March 19, 1913: Brown - The funeral of James F. Brown, who died at 4:20 o'clock Monday afternoon at his residence at 423 Oldham street, will be held this morning at eleven o'clock from Sharon church, eleven miles north of the city, and interment will be in the church yard. The funeral party will leave the residence in this city at nine o'clock. The deceased was a veteran on the civil war, having served in Company B, Third Tennessee Infantry, and was well known in the city. He is survived by his widow, three brothers, Clemmons, Robert and Armstrong, and one sister, Mrs. Mary McCloud.
