Sarah McClain Wood was the daughter of Joseph Wood b. 9 Mar 1770 in Randolph Co., NC and Sarah McClain (both buried at the Glenwood Baptist Cem., Powell, Knox Co., TN; she had one brother Clement Wood b. 28 May 1797 in Randolph Co., NC, d. 14 May 1858 in Knox Co., TN who married Hannah Alldridge (both buried at the Glenwood Baptist Cem.). She married John Brown (buried at the Glenwood Baptist Cem.) b. 23 Oct 1799 in NC, d. 8 Feb 1860 Knox Co., TN; they had the following children: William W. b. abt 1828; Mary Ann b. 1828; Sarah C. b. 9 Oct 1829 in TN; John C. b. 7 Dec 1832 in Knox Co., TN; Margaret E. b. 15 Dec 1835; Joseph M. b. 3 Jan 1838 in Knox Co., TN; James F. b. 19 Apr 1840; ;Robert L. b. 1841; Daniel b. 1844; Pleasant Armstrong b. 1846; and George Oliver b. 1850 in Knox Co., TN. Buried next to her is her son James F. Brown, 3rd TN Inf, Co. B, and his wife Mary E. Tillery; 4 infant graves: Infant of JF and ME Brown; E.
