Joseph Wood was the son of Zebedee Wood (b. 26 Feb 1744/45 in Berkley, MA) and Mary Carson (b. 31 Oct 1744), both buried at the Shiloh United Methodist Church, Randolph Co., NC. He was married about 1796 in Randolph Co., NC to Sarah McClain (buried at this cem.); they had the following children: Clement Wood b. 28 May 1797 in Randolph Co., NC, d. 14 May 1858 in Knox Co., TN, who married Hannah Alldridge (both buried at this cem.) and Sarah McClane Wood b. 21 Dec 1806 in Knox Co., TN, d. 7 Jan 1886 in Knox Co., TN, (buried at the Sharon Baptist Church, Powell, Knox Co., TN) who married John Brown (buried at this cem.).
