Military marker on his grave is for the wrong person. There is a John Henry McClain (1807-1863) who served in the civil war. I have his civil war record. The gravesite is for James Henry McClain our 2nd great grandfather. Not sure that our J. H. McClain served in the civil war. Given his age (born in 1834), he probably did. There are a number of James H. McCLain's who served in the civil war.
