  • Kenneth Eugene “Ken” Rutter, age 87, of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019. He was born in Indianapolis on January 24, 1932 to Samuel and Eva (Caylor) Rutter. He graduated from Manuel High School in Indianapolis. Ken served in the U.S. Army. He married Betty (Williams) in September 1970. He retired from Western Electric as a supervisor. He was also a night auditor at Days Inn, worked at Godbey & Grays Auto and Ron Roland Auction. Ken was a Greenfield Reserve Officer. He attended Cumberland Christian Church and Bethel Baptist. Ken enjoyed writing, poetry, singing, watching old westerns, and could fix anything with a wire coat hanger and duct tape. Ken is survived by his wife Betty Rutter; son, Steven Rutter; daughter, Donna Rutter; four stepchildren, Kathy Williams-Major, Mark Williams, Scott Williams, and Malinda Williams; five grandchildren, Brooke, Brandy, Bryan, Lauren, Alex, Nicole; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Elmore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Eva Rutter; and brother, Virgil Rutter. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Service will be officiated by Dr. Randall Parker of Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
