GAINESBORO -- Funeral services for Leona Mayberry Allen, 64, of Gainesboro, were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial was in Byers Cemetery. Mrs. Allen died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 9, 1945, in Jackson County to the late Lester Ray and Lena Wheeler Mayberry. Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and a member of McCoinsville Church of Christ. Her family includes her husband, Larry M. Allen of Gainesboro (whom she married Nov. 3, 1967); three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark and Angelia Allen, Michael and Meredith Allen and Bryan Allen, all of Gainesboro; three brothers, Billy, Kenneth and Elmer Mayberry, all of Gainesboro; a sister and brother-in-law, Daisy and Terry Pryor of Gainesboro; and three grandchildren, Hailey, Austin and Cason Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Allen. Memorial donations may be made to the Allen family by contacting the funeral home. Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiated at the services.
