The body was cremated. Memorial Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Joseph Hill Catholic Church. Kraft Funeral Home, New Albany, is handling arrangements. Originally published in the Courier-Journal dated 15 Aug 1991. George's ashes were buried with his two young brothers who died in a car accident on the Knobs. George told how he and Bernard argued over who was going to sit in the front seat. Grandma told George, "Thommy" at that time, to sit in the back. A tire blew out on a curve on the road coming down the hill. The two younger brothers were killed, one instantly and the other died as Grandma was carrying him up the hill. George said he lost the fight, but he won his life. He survived but was very sad that he lost his two baby brothers. Grandma was pregnant with Joan at that time. The baby had walked at age 9 months but then got a disease and he would never walk again. His mother said, "God works in mysterious ways."
