Heaton (nee Dobbins), 92 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, June 6, 2005 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home. She was born November 26, 1912 in Ft. Worth Texas. She was raised in West Virginia and lived there until her health began to fail, at which time she moved to Amherst to be near her daughter. Bessie was a homemaker and a very active member of Good Shephard Methodist Church in Grafton,West Virginia. She loved flower gardening, card games, and dominos. Survivors include her daughter Norma Shroyer of Amherst; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her brother Joe Dobbins of Cuyahoga Falls, John Dobbins of Shallotte, North Carolina, Paul Dobbins of Orrville, Ohio, and Jim Dobbins of Sacramento, Calif; and her sisters Blanche Greenleaf of Tucson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Cecil Heaton in 1973; by her son Homer Heaton in 1997; her parents Perry and Laura Dobbins (nee True); by her brothers Claude Dobbins and Charles Dobbins; and by sisters, Myrtle Sands and Mary Frame. Friends may call Wednesday, June 8, 2005, from 1:00 p.m. to the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the Bartlett Funeral Home; 202 McGraw Avenue, Grafton, West Virginia. Rev. Burt Coffman, pastor of Good Shephard Methodist Church in Grafton will officiate. Burial will be in Woodsdale Cemetery, Grafton, West Virginia.
