She was born January 7, 1932, in Little Otter, West Virginia near Gassaway. Norma moved to Ohio in 1958, from Grafton, West Virginia where she was raised and married her husband Charles Lewis Shroyer, Jr. She had made her home in Amherst since 1970. Norma was employed as a switchboard operator at Chesapeake Potomac Phone Company in Grafton, West Virginia and also for AT &T phone Company in Cleveland for many years. She was a life member of the VFW Post #1079 in Elyria, and the Woodmen Lodge #6002 in Grafton, West Virginia. Norma enjoyed ballroom dancing, and tending to her flowers and garden. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family. Survivors include her son Kent A. Shroyer of Lorain; her daughter Karen L. Shroyer of Drums, Pennsylvania; her grandson Nicholas Mittler; and her great grandson Jayden A. Mittler. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years Charles Lewis Shroyer, Jr. on March 29, 2011; her brother Homer K. Heaton; and her parents Cecil N. and Bessie Heaton (nee: Dobbins). Friends may call Wednesday, November 7, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
