Pennington, 91, of Fishers, formerly of Fountain City, passed away on Monday, December 18. He was born in Hilham, Tennessee on March 2, 1926 to David and Ida McClain Pennington. He served as a scout with G Company, 415th Infantry Regiment, 104th Infantry Division (Timberwolf) as a scout during World War II. While fighting in the European Theatre, he received the Purple Heart for wounds received in action as well as the Bronze Star. Mr. Pennington returned home from the war and began a 33-year career at Atlas Plastics in Richmond. After moving back to Tennessee, he worked at Dover Elevator before retirement. He enjoyed reading his newspaper and watching TV. Mr. Pennington will be missed by his wife of 66 years, the former Millie Brannam, who he married on May 5, 1951; sons, Mike (Barb) Pennington, Ronnie (Renee) Pennington and Donnie Pennington; grandchildren, Shawn (Jennifer) Pennington, Brittany Pennington and Michael (Emily) Pennington; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Pennington was preceded in death by his parents, son, David R. "Bobby" Pennington; sisters, Bonnie Davis and Vernie Pennington; twin brother, Elbert Pennington and brother, Tom Pennington. Mr. Pennington's life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 23 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment with military rites will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, at the funeral home.
