Burial was in Miller Cemetery in Allons. Mr. Upton died Friday, Aug. 19 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born August 29, 1924, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Lou Upton. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Upton; 2 grandchildren, Sarai Delaine and Michelle Caffee; and a great grandchild, Hannah Grace Kirby. Survivors include a son, John Douglas Upton Jr.; 6 daughters and 5 sons-in-law, Mary and Dave Caffee, Bonnie and Jerry Masters, Vivian and Steve Lafever, Kay and Bill Prince, Juanita and Bryan Rhea, and Lisa Delaine; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Wayne Upton, Ron Upton, Jeff Upton, Charlie Copeland, Brandon Rhea, and Kelly Henson.
