He was born March 7, 1927 in Clem, WV a son of the late Reverend C.C. and Eunice Bragg Dobbins. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by wife, Edith Dobbins; brother, Roy Dobbins; sister, Betty Lockhart; brother-in-law, Bill Patrick. Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Cathy Bollinger (Dale) of Gassaway and Regina Ware of Elkins; grandchildren, Lorrie Smith (Okey) of Gassaway; Andrew Starcher, Qiana and Selena Anderson all of Elkins; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Paxton Smith of Gassaway. He is survived by seven brothers and sisters, Anna Jean Lucas (Bob) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Carolyn Patrick of Clem, Kent Dobbins (Brenda) of Servia, Linda Stines of Charleston, Ronald Dobbins (Sandy) of Grafton, OH, Rodney Dobbins (Linda) of Clem, Donnie Dobbins of Frametown and many nieces and nephews; caregivers, Karen McCourt of Erbacon, Angela Samples of Strange Creek and Ann Briggs of Corley. Robert was employed by the WV Department of Highways for over 20 years. Prior to that he served as a school bus operator for Braxton County Schools and as a truck driver for Kenton Meadows Corporation. He served in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army and was a member of the Dessie Baptist Church. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 17 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. David Wesley Jones officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway.
