Published: January 18, 2010 in The Evening News & The Tribune Mary ‘Irene' Zimmerman Speth , 98; of Jeffersonville Funeral services for Mary "Irene" Zimmerman Speth, 98, of Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Jeffersonville, with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery, Jeffersonville. She died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010. She was born April 9, 1911, in Floyds Knobs, to George and Catherine Zimmerman. She loved to quilt and her quilts are cherished by her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She enjoyed bingo and playing cards and attended many senior citizen functions in the area. She was a member of the D of I and St. Joseph Quilters for many years. She worked at M. Fine & Son and then with her former husband ran a large farm. She became a reflexologist and applied her trade for many years. She also was employed at the county assessor's office, Urban Renewal and ICI. Survivors include her children, Gary, Gloria Ann Faith and her husband, Bill, Brenda Sweet and her husband, Steve, of New Albany, Jo Jones and her husband, Chuck, of Floyds Knobs, Paul and his wife, Lubov, of New Orleans, Kathy Voyles and her husband, Ed, of Jeffersonville, Karen Kester and her husband, David, of Deland, Fla., Nancy Hoerter and her husband, Jim, of Bardstown, Ky., Mark and his wife, Judy, of Elkhart; daughter-in-law, Anna Sweeney and her husband, Rick, of Jeffersonville; 42 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Schroder, of Sellersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; four sisters; three brothers; a son, George; and grandson, Keith. Visitation at Coots Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hosparus of Southern Indiana or Sacred Heart Church.
